FAQ
Your Questions, Answered
Planning a wedding, especially a destination wedding, can feel overwhelming. I’ve photographed over 450 weddings in 20+ countries, so I understand what couples worry about most. Here’s everything you need to know about working with me, my team, and Ellie Ro Studio.
1. Where are you based?
I’m based in Italy, and I work primarily in Lake Como, Tuscany, and France. As a destination wedding photographer, I travel worldwide — wherever your love story takes you.
2. Do you travel internationally?
Yes. I photograph weddings across Italy and worldwide, and working in different locations is an essential part of my practice. Each destination brings its own light, rhythm, and atmosphere, which naturally shapes the way I approach every story. Wherever your wedding takes place, I travel to document it with the same level of care and consistency. I always arrive in advance of the wedding day and stay until after the celebration, allowing time to understand the space, evaluate the light, and prepare each moment with intention. Travel costs — including transport, accommodation, and team logistics — are calculated according to the destination and the structure of your coverage and are included in your tailored proposal.
3. How long have you been a photographer?
I’ve been working as a photographer for over 19 years. I studied Photography at the Istituto Europeo di Design in Turin, followed by a Master’s in Visual Storytelling at ICP New York. My background spans documentary, fashion, and editorial photography, which has shaped the way I approach weddings today. This experience informs every image I create — from composition and light to capturing authentic emotion.
4. Do you shoot film or digital?
We work with both digital and film, because each serves a different purpose in storytelling. Digital allows us to move with freedom and precision throughout the wedding day. It gives us agility, consistency, and the ability to respond instinctively to every moment as it unfolds — especially in fast, emotional, or unpredictable situations. Film, on the other hand, is a more intentional and poetic layer of the story. It brings depth, texture, and a sense of timelessness that cannot be replicated. I’ve been shooting film since I was a child, and it remains an essential part of my visual language — not as an add-on, but as a way of slowing down and capturing emotion in its purest form. The combination of both allows us to build a complete narrative: digital for clarity and presence, film for atmosphere and soul. Together, they create a layered, cinematic story that feels both real and timeless — never forced, never overproduced, always true to your day.
5. How far in advance should we book?
I photograph a limited number of weddings each year (maximum 25) to ensure every couple receives my full attention. For this reason, I recommend booking at least one year in advance to secure your date. If I’m personally unavailable, my studio can still support your wedding through a carefully selected team that works under my creative direction, ensuring the same level of quality, consistency, and vision throughout the entire experience.
6. How do we request a quote?
Simply fill out the contact form, sharing as many details as possible about your wedding — date, location, vision, and atmosphere.
The more I know, the more tailored and accurate your proposal will be.
7. Do we need to sign a contract?
Yes. A signed contract is required to secure your date and confirm my services. A €1,000 booking fee is due upon booking, with the remaining balance usually split into two instalments, depending on the agreement. The entire process is handled online for ease and convenience.
8. What happens after we book?
Once your booking is confirmed, we begin shaping your photography experience with care and intention. You’ll receive a short pre-wedding questionnaire to help me understand your style, priorities, and vision. From there, we develop a shared visual direction through moodboards, refine the photography timeline, and discuss light, locations, and key moments — ensuring every detail is thoughtfully considered. My role is to guide and support you throughout the process, so when the day arrives, you can be fully present — while everything unfolds seamlessly and is captured with depth and clarity.
9. Do you visit the wedding venue beforehand?
Having worked across a wide range of locations worldwide, I’m very comfortable adapting quickly to any setting. Rather than relying on pre-visits, my approach is based on experience, observation, and preparation. On the wedding day, I always arrive in advance to walk through the venue, assess the light, and review the selected locations. This allows me to refine timing and ensure everything flows seamlessly — capturing each moment in the most natural and visually compelling way.
10. How long will you photograph our wedding?
Coverage typically ranges from 6 to 12 hours, depending on your plans and the experience you’d like to create. This allows me to document the day in a complete and cohesive way — from preparations to the ceremony, portraits, and the natural flow of the celebration. For multi-day events or extended coverage, a fully tailored approach can be designed to reflect the rhythm and scale of your wedding.
11. How many photographers will be present?
Each wedding is covered by a carefully structured team, tailored to the scale and nature of your event. Typically, we work as a team of two or three photographers to ensure every moment is captured with depth and perspective. For larger or multi-day celebrations, the team can expand to up to six photographers. This ensures a consistent and refined visual narrative, with no detail ever overlooked.
12. Can we customize our photography package?
Absolutely. Every wedding is unique, and each proposal is thoughtfully tailored to reflect your plans, priorities, and the overall experience you wish to create. From coverage and team structure to coffee table books and custom wedding magazines, every element is curated with care — ensuring a seamless and cohesive approach that feels entirely your own.
13. When will our photos be ready?
You will receive a preview gallery within 7 days, depending on what is agreed in your contract, allowing you to relive and share your first moments. The full, fully curated gallery is delivered within 90 working days. For couples who wish to receive their images sooner, an expedited delivery option is available, offering a full gallery turnaround in approximately 15 to 30 days, depending on the selected service.
14. How many photos will we receive?
The number of images depends on your chosen package, the duration of coverage, and the natural flow of your wedding day. On average, couples receive 800 images or more, all professionally edited in both color and black & white. Each photograph is carefully refined by me and Elisa, our studio editor, to preserve authenticity, natural tones, and a timeless aesthetic.
15. Do you also deliver RAW files?
We do not deliver RAW files. Post-production is a fundamental part of our work and of the final storytelling. It is during the editing process that each image is carefully refined, allowing light, colour, and emotion to come together in a way that feels cohesive and true to the vision of the studio. For this reason, we only deliver fully edited photographs. Each image you receive has been thoughtfully selected and post-produced to ensure a consistent and unique visual language throughout your story. This approach allows us to create a final gallery that feels complete, intentional, and unmistakably ours — and yours.
16. How does the online gallery work?
Your images are delivered through a private online gallery via Pic-Time, a premium platform designed to offer a seamless and elevated viewing experience. You will receive secure access where you can view, download, and share your photos in both high and web resolution. The gallery also allows you to order fine art prints, albums, and curated products directly. The gallery is included for 1 year as part of your contract, with the option to extend storage if you wish to keep your collection accessible for a longer period. Pic-Time is designed to feel intuitive and beautiful to use, turning your gallery into an experience — not just a delivery.
17. Can you document our full wedding journey?
Yes — and we cover every stage of your journey.
From engagement and pre-wedding sessions to bridal brunches, welcome dinners, wedding days, and even honeymoon moments, we offer complete storytelling coverage designed to follow your experience naturally. These sessions are an opportunity to connect before the wedding, feel comfortable in front of the camera, and build a natural sense of trust and ease. Whether it’s an engagement shoot or an intimate couple session, the focus is always on authenticity — real connection, natural interaction, and effortless emotion. The result is a cohesive visual story that begins before the wedding day and continues beyond it.
18. Do you carry insurance?
Yes — we are fully insured.
Ellie Ro Studio is based in Italy, and both the studio and our entire team are covered by professional liability insurance for all assignments, including destination weddings. If your venue requires a certificate of insurance or any specific documentation, please let us know in advance and we will be happy to provide it.
19. Do you offer video or content creation services?
Yes. Alongside photography, Ellie Ro Studio offers a dedicated content creation service designed to complement your visual story with a more immediate, behind-the-scenes perspective. Our in-house content creators capture the atmosphere of your day through candid moments, details, and natural interactions — always in harmony with the aesthetic and discretion of our photographic approach. From short-form vertical clips to curated behind-the-scenes storytelling, the focus is on authenticity, emotion, and the energy of the moment. The result is a complementary layer of storytelling that allows you to relive and share your wedding in a more immediate and intimate way, without ever disrupting the flow of your day.
20. Can you recommend other vendors?
Absolutely. Over the years, I’ve built a trusted network of wedding professionals around the world. I’m happy to recommend florists, planners, stylists, and more to ensure your day runs seamlessly.
21. What makes your photography different?
I combine documentary honesty with an editorial approach. Every image is intentional — crafted through experience, anticipation, and an understanding of light, composition, and emotion. My clients choose me because my colours are real, my edits are timeless, and every photograph reflects the true feeling of the day — not trends, just authenticity and elegance.
22. Do you also provide albums or coffee table books?
Yes. Every wedding is accompanied by bespoke keepsakes — from magazine-style albums to luxury coffee table books — designed to be touched, shared, and treasured. Each piece is crafted with the same care and vision as your wedding day, turning your story into a tangible, editorial object.
